Troop 858 hosts a flag retirement ceremony every year. It is the largest organized flag retirement ceremony in the country. They will retire well over 1,000 flags this year. This is a great event because it teaches the boys respect for the flag and how to properly retire a worn and tattered United States flag. There will be static displays from the fire department, police (possibly SWAT team), military, etc. at the event. You can find more details on the troop’s website:

The event will be held at T.R. Hughes ball park on Sunday 10/9 beginning at 11:00 with activities and displays being open. The flag retirement ceremony will begin at 1:00 sharp.

Below is a patch that can be purchased at the event.
